The Disastrous Taskmaster

In Te Ngahere we have been learning about team building called TaskMaster we needed to work together to complete the task, we use kind and helpful words only and we have to help someone in our team and given positive encouragement and reinforcement. We also have to have fun and show pride. We had to get a piece of paper to copy another drawing. We needed to draw with five colors which are black, green, red, blue and orange. The other people in your group had to walk outside and see the drawing on the paper, then come back inside. Then they had to tell the drawer what they saw and the drawer will draw what they said.

What didn’t worked well is when the drawer didn’t know what I was saying so I was getting more frustrated.

On the first attempt on taskmaster what worked well is when we started to communicate and worked together.

The challenging part on the first attempt is that it's hard to tell your partner something where to put the drawing too.

On the second attempt on taskmaster we changed roles, I am the drawer and my other partners are the runners.

What worked well is when my partners gave me extra details of what they saw on the other drawing which we had to copy.

What didn’t work well is when my partners shout about what they saw at me but I try to do one at a time.

What was challenging is when I was a drawer and I didn’t know what to write but my partner does, so they had to say what they saw one at a time.

Have you ever done taskmaster?

What's The Difference?

In Te Ngahere we have been learning about food webs/food chains. Here is the difference between my food web and Whaea Becks food web. The other food web is different to mine because it has color on the arrows and I have skinny lines.

It also has more detail of what the animals eat. The other food web has the predators on the outside, the native birds and the trees in the inside.

The line might look like they are pointing the wrong way but they are actually aren't they are facing this way because it is the way the energy is transferred. For example the insect gets eaten by the kiwi and the insects transfers there energy to the kiwi.

Another example: The kiwi gets eaten by a stoat and the kiwi transfer their energy to the stoat. The hardest part to make this DLO is what the pest animals and native birds eat or get eaten.

Have you ever learned about this before?

My Experience About A Tsunami.

Last Friday there were huge earthquakes that caused tremors and tsunamis. The teachers had to gather every student and staff members and evacuate on Totara Heights way for safety because a tsunami was sure to crash at Paihia. I was so terrified that I had to call my my parents on Gina’s phone. Then lots of the kid’s parents picked them up.  That included some of my friends. I felt scared and excited at the same time because I never experienced a tsunami before in my life. I now know what it was like to stay up a hill for five hours I felt like I was going to collapse.  I eventually got really bored standing around and sitting down. The most exciting part was when the sausage company Fritz’s Wieners came up with lots of sausages and shared their food with us.

Have you ever experienced a tsunami before? I know I have.

My Oblivious Kawa Of Care

In Te Ngahere we have been learning to follow the Kawa of care. The kawa of care makes sure we take care of our chromebooks.

If you have a chromebook you need to follow the kawa of care, here are some rules for kawa of care.

I made my DLO about always having a case over your chromebook, it's important because you might drop it and break the screen without a case and the insurance company will not give insurance.

Sometimes the hardest part for people to follow the kawa of care is not holding a chromebook with two hands and not closing the chromebook.

Have you ever broken the kawa of care before?

Here is the video which our group made down below.
