Twisted Technology

This Week on Tuesday we travelled to Moerewa School to go to Technology and learn this term we were in wood work with Mr.E. Mr.E demonstrated how to make a Waka. We needed to get the materials that Mr.E had, a block of wood that's shaped as a rectangle and make a replica of Mr.E’s Waka.

I started off by drawing a 7 mm line on each sides. After we drawed all the lines we had to draw Bow on the front of the Waka and draw stern on the back, when I finished doing that I needed to do the sides, writing: Port on the left and Starboard on the right. I finished doing the basics and needed to use a power tool to make a hole on the left side front of the Waka. When I finished making a hole on my Waka Mr.E called out that it was time to go back to our school but we had time to play at the playground and was ready to go.

The most difficult power tool to work on is the screwier because whenever I try to make a hole on my Waka I hold the side of my Waka and sometimes I let go and it goes flying in circles.

Have you ever Crafted a Waka Before?
