In Te Ngahere Tracy came into our class to teach us about swim safe. She told us about new gadgets that we've never seen before. It was an emergency beacon and it’s like a tiny walkie talkie. Then she showed us flares. There were 4 different flares. One was a flare gun, the other was a parachute flare, a hand flare and a burning flare. We learnt that on a beach or on a boat you should do these 5 steps: check the weather, safety first, tell somebody where you’re going and when you’ll be back, take a water proof phone to call the Coastguard and always wear a life jacket.
