Smart Smurfing Relationships

In Te Ngahere We are learning about how to be smart in our online relationships and to seek help when we need it. We watched a video about how to be safe in cybersmart by watching a video about a girl that's ten years old, sharing her personal information to an old guy named Simon pretending to be a 13 year old boy and at the end the girl finally notice it was wrong and pressed report abuse and put Simon in jail. After that we needed to copy a Google slide and write what the girl did wrong and why it’s wrong. It took awhile to finish but we manage to finish with our strong group’s brain power

Here is the link to our slide if you want to see more of the story about the girl:

Have you ever talked to a stranger in an online game? Because I know you did so did I.

I'M A KIWI!

Hi!, my name is Mark and this week I have gotten my New Zealand Citizenship award. It all started on Wednesday when my family and I went to Kaitaia to get me and my Mum a New Zealand Citizenship award. We arrived in Kaitaia, excited to get my NZ citizenship award, we decided to have a break and lunch in a Cafe, after I had finished eating we had to sit down on the chair because the ceremony on where I'm gonna get my citizenship was starting.

It took awhile until our turn so we waited and it finally was our turn, I was very nervous standing there looking at people thats looking at me I thought I was gonna get stage fright but when I was about to get stage fright it was over. The Mayor shaked my hand so did the 4 council and I had gotten a badge of Kiwi. when the ceremony was over we went home to celebrate by having KFC Wicked Wings.

Have you ever gotten a NZ Citizenship badge before?

Manaia Kalani’s Challenge 7

In Te Ngahere we had received a challenge from Manaiakalani and that challenge was to draw sea creatures or something of our choice with shape tools in google drawing. The purpose for the challenge was to learn how to use google drawing confidently to also learn how to share our learning properly. What I did was to make some sea creatures in shapes, what I made was a sea turtle, Jellyfish and clownfish. What I did well was making a sea turtle with the shape tools because the Sea turtle look very detailed as the triangle acting like the flipper for the sea turtle.

What I need to do better next time is to add more background detail.

Have you made a Sea turtle this creative like mine in Manaia Kalani’s challenge?

Twisted Technology

This Week on Tuesday we travelled to Moerewa School to go to Technology and learn this term we were in wood work with Mr.E. Mr.E demonstrated how to make a Waka. We needed to get the materials that Mr.E had, a block of wood that's shaped as a rectangle and make a replica of Mr.E’s Waka.

I started off by drawing a 7 mm line on each sides. After we drawed all the lines we had to draw Bow on the front of the Waka and draw stern on the back, when I finished doing that I needed to do the sides, writing: Port on the left and Starboard on the right. I finished doing the basics and needed to use a power tool to make a hole on the left side front of the Waka. When I finished making a hole on my Waka Mr.E called out that it was time to go back to our school but we had time to play at the playground and was ready to go.

The most difficult power tool to work on is the screwier because whenever I try to make a hole on my Waka I hold the side of my Waka and sometimes I let go and it goes flying in circles.

Have you ever Crafted a Waka Before?

Trick Testers

On our first day back at School we had to do a reading test. Whaea Becks, our teacher gave us the reading test sheets. The instructions were to read everything CAREFULLY before doing anything.  I read the 2 instructions and worked my way down. Our teacher told us it was a trick because the first instruction was to READ everything carefully and in the end there was a surprise.

It was all the trick because the last instruction was *Now that you have finished reading everything carefully, do only sentences one and two! Then draw quietly on the back of this paper while you wait for everyone else to finish!*. Our teacher was teaching us how to read carefully so they gave us the test and I failed. I felt fooled for a moment but I learnt something. Next time in the future I need to READ everything CAREFULLY before doing anything.

Have your teacher ever tricked you in a reading test?
